Welcome to our blog!

Hello all,

Clearly we haven't left yet. And clearly there's very little here. That will change, of course.

For those of you not paying attention, we're leaving on January 7th from Kennedy Airport. We have a stop-over in Miami and will land in Lima, Peru sometime on the 8th.

This is all incredibly exciting. Ally has been all over Europe, but I've only spent some 14 days outside the country and that's where she and I met. We're finalizing our packing lists and trying to strike that tenuous balance between having everything we could possibly need and retaining intact vertebrae beyond the first week of our trip.

We're going to try to update the blog whenever we have internet service, and luckily my phone has email function with which to update it remotely, so at the very least we'll be able to confirm that we are, in fact, still alive. We also intend to post lots and lots of photos--I'm bringing over 60GB of memory cards and hopefully this will be replenished in Santiago, Chile when we rendezvous with my dad and carol. We PROMISE that if you give us feedback and leave comments that we'll be MUCH more likely to post!

So here are our plans thus far:
Jan 8: get picked up at the airport in Lima by Patricia, a friend of Ally's dad.
Jan 9: stay with patricia
Jan 10: leave patricia's house, rendezvous with some couchsurfers (see the link on the sidebar) and plan the rest of our Peru stay.
The rest of January will be spent in Peru.
February will mostly be spent in Bolivia
March will be spent in Argentina and Chile.
April will be spent in Brazil and Venezuela.
May will be spent in Colombia and Ecuador.
June will see us heading back to Lima for our flight back on the 10th.

The anticipation is pretty killer...
